Ari Lennox Returns to Studio With Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox
Ari Lennox is cooking up new music. The D.C. native was recently in the studio with legendary hitmakers Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox.
Dupri shared a couple of behind-the-scenes videos of him and Cox in a studio with Lennox.
The first clip, shared on Thursday (June 20), showed the two legends alongside Lennox, R&B singer and songwriter Jai’Len Josey, and singer-songwriter Gabrielle Rodgers.
“First day back in the studio with @arilennox @bryanmichaelcox @jailenjosey & @elleirbmi,” Dupri wrote.
On Saturday (June 22), Dupri posted another clip with the same team, plus R&B singer and songwriter Ant Clemons and A&R executive Jaha Johnson.
“Hit records are made when you laughing, smiling, throwing ideas and having a great f*****g time, day 3 with @arilennox @bryanmichaelcox @elleirbmi @antclemons @jahajohnson,” Dupri wrote in the caption.
Lennox responded to the post in the comment section. “You’re everything,” she wrote with a smiling face with hearts emoji. “Thanks for these beautiful records.”
This isn’t Lennox’s first time working with Dupri and Cox. She collaborated with them, as well as Josey and Johntá Austin, on her 2021 single “Pressure.”
The RIAA gold-certified single reached No. 1 at R&B radio and on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
“Pressure” was the lead single from Lennox’s sophomore album, age/sex/location. The project was ranked No. 5 on Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2022 list.
In May 2023, after concluding her age/sex/location Tour, Lennox hit the studio with Dupri.
“Excited to be back in the studio with @arilennox tonight,” Dupri wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. Right now, it’s not known if that previous session is connected to their latest.
That November, Lennox returned with her intimate single “Get Close,” produced by DZL and Wu10. Since then, Lennox has teamed with DMV rapper Foggieraw on “Stay Awhile,” released in April.
As for Dupri and Cox, the longtime collaborators co-produced Muni Long’s latest hit, “Made For Me.”
The heartwarming track, which received a Mariah Carey-assisted remix, was recently certified platinum by the RIAA, with over one million equivalent units sold.
“Made For Me” peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and 13 weeks at No. 1 on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart.
