Amy Cooper Apologizes After Getting Fired, Receiving Backlash for Making False Claim Against Black Man
Amy Cooper got what she deserved after making false claims against Christian Cooper.
Amy was fired from the investment company, Franklin Templeton, and was dubbed Karen of the week after a viral clip of her calling the police on Christian after he asked her to put her dog on a leash.
“There’s a man, an African American, he’s recording and threatening me and my dog,” she says deliriously. “There is an African American man in Central Park. He is recording me and threatening myself and my dog.”
She started performing, “I am being threatened by a man in The Ramble!” she screamed. “Please send the police immediately!”
But now she’s taking it all back in a typical, meaningless apology. “I’m not a racist. I did not mean to harm that man in any way,” she said in a statement to CNN. “I think I was just scared,” she said. “When you’re alone in The Ramble, you don’t know what’s happening. It’s not excusable, it’s not defensible.”
To add a cherry on top, her dog was taken by the Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue where she adopted the dog a few years ago, after she was seen choking him up in the video.
When asked if he’d accept Amy Cooper’s apology, Christian said “if it’s genuine and if she plans on keeping her dog on a leash in The Ramble going forward, then we have no issues with each other.”
