Ahmaud Arbery’s Killers Were Indicted by Georgia Grand Jury
The three men who maliciously murdered Ahmaud Arbery in cold blood were indicted on malice and murder charges.
Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael and William “Roddie” Bryan Jr. are all being thrown in the slammer for their part in the unprovoked execution, that had supporting video footage that wasn’t unearthed until a month after the tragedy.
“This is another positive step, another great step for finding justice for Ahmaud, for finding justice for this family and the community beyond,” Cobb County District Attorney Joyette Holmes said in a news conference.
The McMichaels and Bryan were each charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of false imprisonment and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment.
Ahmaud Arbery was gunned down while jogging near Brunswick, Georgia just two miles from his home. The thugs were armed and claimed they were looking for a suspected robber. Of course the 25-year-old fit the description and they got their George Zimmerman on.
Georgia is one of the few states without hate crime laws, and a proposal was already on the governor’s desk. Gov. Brian Kemp’s office said in a statement that the governor “commends the General Assembly’s bipartisan work and will sign House Bill 426 pending legal review.”
