Wiz Khalifa Previews Verse For J. Cole’s “cLOUDS,” Social Media Reacts

Wiz Khalifa got back into his Blog Era bag with this brand-new snippet, courtesy of J. Cole. On Thursday (Feb. 27), the Pittsburgh native took to social media to preview his verse from Cole’s recently released track, “cLOUDS.” “Cole asked me to do a verse on here, and I don’t know when he’s gonna drop it, so I figured I’d let y’all get a sneak peek. Taylor Gang the world,” he captioned the video, which featured the artist smoking weed with plenty jars of tree around him.
“CLOUDS,” which was produced by DZL, Omen, and “small contributions” from Cole, samples Khalifa’s “Never Been” from his critically acclaimed mixtape, Kush & OJ. The 37-year-old was back in his bag, ripping and blunting the cut with his signature flow and raps about getting money, maintaining, and of course, smoking the top-shelf Mary Jane.
“Weather the storm, you show me a pack, I tell you if it’s bomb or not,” he spits on the snippet. “Don’t feel attacked, the don image just warning shots/ When I can’t do what I want then that’s when the problems start.”

Social media was in a frenzy, reacting favorably to Wiz seemingly returning to the sound he used to become a Blog Era darling. “Wiz got it feeling like 2010 again,” one IG account stated. “Damn, hearing Wiz on this kinda took me back in time. Really cool hearing his version compared to Cole’s and how two completely different styles can attack this beat,” another comment chimed in on X/Twitter.
“It’s crazy to me how wiz has never really gotten worse he’s always been good asf,” another remark added. “This is like the third verse in 3 weeks I’ve heard from Wiz, and it feels nostalgic in the best way. Im actually excited to hear this Kush and OJ 2,” a fan typed, anticipating the sequel to Khalifa’s acclaimed mixtape.
Wiz and Cole haven’t collaborated a whole lot with each other throughout both of their successful careers. Regardless, the two artists go way back with each other. The two can be linked back to one of the most iconic covers in XXL history, with both men participating in the 2010 Freshman class. In retrospect, this cover and the 2009 and 2011 classes have gone on to represent the true essence of the Blog Era.
