Tyler, the Creator Shares “THOUGHT I WAS DEAD” Music Video

Tyler, the Creator continued to expand the CHROMAKOPIA world before releasing the anticipated album. On Sunday (Oct. 27), the California native delivered the music video for “THOUGHT I WAS DEAD” hours before the album was officially released the next morning.

In the self-directed clip, the 33-year-old performs the track while standing on the wing of a vintage combat airplane. The black-and-white toned visual follows the videos for “ST. CHROMA” and “NOID,” from CHROMAKOPIA as well as promotional videos for the album and pending world tour.

“Thank you so much for coming out. I’m born and raised in LA. Inglewood, Hawthorne to be exact. This album originally started about growing up in these areas,” relayed the Grammy-winner to fans at a Sunday night listening event for Chromakopia at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, CA.

“The album just kind of turned into me taking a bunch of sh*t my mom told me when I was a kid. Now that I’m 33, all of that stuff is like, ‘Oh, that’s what f**k she was talking about! Oh, I’m not the guy that I was at 20! Oh sh*t!’”

He continued, “People are getting older. Folks having kids and families. And all I got is a new Ferrari and it does feel kind of weird after a while. I’m gaining weight. I got a grey hair on my chest.”
