Trippie Redd And Machine Gun Kelly Join Forces On Upcoming Collab Project ‘Genre: Sadboy’
Collaborative albums are an interesting concept; fans request many that ultimately do not happen and end up receiving projects they may have never expected. Trippie Redd and Machine Gun Kelly recently announced their upcoming joint project will be coming at the end of this month.
The duo shared a collaborative Instagram post on Wednesday (March 20) that showed them in the studio together while presumed snippets from the album played. One record sounded especially downtempo and somber, with one line saying “This one’s for the suicide/ Everything is blue inside/ Everyone ain’t you and I/ People won’t say how they feel about you until you die.”
The “Miss The Rage” artist ended the video with two of his signature croons. In the caption, they wrote “Genre:Sadboy 3/29 a project by us @genresadboy.” Needless to say, they will be delivering this emo-rap collaboration of epic proportions next Friday (March 29). They also have a documentary for the project premiering on Thursday (March 21). Watch the promotional Instagram video below.
Trippie Redd and Machine Gun Kelly are no strangers to one another when it comes to music. The Ohio artists worked together on the 2019 track “Candy” from MGK’s Hotel Diablo LP, and again the following year on “All I Know” on his 2020 album Tickets To My Downfall.
MGK returned the favor, appearing on “Pill Breaker” and “Red Sky” from Trippie’s 2021 effort Pegasus. They also hit the road together in 2022, as Redd was the opening act on Kelly’s Mainstream Sellout tour.
Both have also been active individually within the last year. MGK got back into his rap bag on the song “Pressure” and addressed Megan Fox’s miscarriage in “Don’t Let Me Go” this past February. As for Trippie, he released three albums in 2023: Mansion Musik, A Love Letter To You 5, and Saint Michael V2. Last week, he shared his new single “LWRW.”
