The Alchemist Confirms Forthcoming Mobb Deep Album, Nas To Be Involved

Mobb Deep may not be fully with us anymore, with Prodigy passing away in 2017 due to sickle cell anemia, but their legacy lives on. The Alchemist recently confirmed that he is working on the duo’s next album, and Nas will be a helping hand in the process.

Alc sat down with The Breakfast Club alongside 2 Chainz and Larry June, whom he recently collaborated with on Life Is Beautiful, and spoke about the legendary Queens tag team. “They did so much work, it was insane,” he said. “You could just peel back layers in Prodigy’s rhymes. He was ahead of his time.”

He continued waxing poetic about Prodigy, specifically how his work ethic facilitated his work on their upcoming LP. “Their discography is unmatched,” Alchemist added. “P’s legend lives. He did more than the average person while he was here, and he even left behind a lot of stuff so we’re lucky enough to be working on a new Mobb Deep project.”

Of course, Havoc is actively involved, too. “It’s me and Hav doing the beats,” The Alchemist said. “Nas is involved. It feels great just to hear his voice again. We missed it. It’s a void not hearing his voice anymore.” It is unclear whether this is the same project Havoc teased last summer, but it is exciting nonetheless.

“I’m at ALC studios. New Mobb Deep coming soon,” he said in a video. “R.I.P. Prodigy. You see Al in the background. You already know what it is. Mobb Deep coming soon, baby. Infinite!” This will mark the first Mobb Deep album since 2014’s The Infamous Mobb Deep, which featured one disc of new music and one disc loaded with unreleased tracks from The Infamous studio sessions.

Havoc has been actively working despite losing his partner-in-rhyme almost eight years ago. Last year, he appeared on “Deathwish” with Max Pain and Shadowmaso. He also joined Lloyd Banks and 38 Spesh on “Had It Coming” and “Buzzer” with J5 Slap. Listen to “Deathwish” below.
