SZA’s ‘SOS: LANA’ Deluxe Album Debuts At No. 1 On Billboard 200

SZA‘s SOS album has reclaimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart following the release of its LANA Deluxe version.

According to Luminate, the singer’s SOS Deluxe: LANA moved 178,000 album-equivalent units in its first week on the chart, with 105,000 of those sales attributed to songs included on the album.

SOS‘ jump back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 comes more than two years after its initial release in December 2022, when it debuted atop the chart with 318,000 album-equivalent units sold.

In addition to the 23 songs on the original SOS album, the deluxe version includes 15 new tracks, with features from Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Babyface and Benny Blanco are among the producers who contributed to the album, which was initially teased by SZA earlier this year. The new songs on the LANA deluxe are described as “B-sides” made during the creation and recording of SOS.

News of SZA’s latest milestone comes amid descreprancies regarding the singer’s professional relationship with TDE President Terrance “Punch” Henderson.

Last week, SZA seemingly confirmed reports that Punch would no longer serve in his role as her manager, reigniting a tug-and-pull between the two that has been well-documented throughout her career.

“Nothing to celebrate. The end of an era,” she said of her time working with Punch. “I wish him the best *heart emoji* whatever his choices may be. *heart emoji*.”

However, talks of the abrupt split were tempered after Punch re-shared an X post projecting SOS to reclaim the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 with 170,000 units sold this past Friday (Dec. 27).

The Californian also updated his bio on the social media platform to indicate that his role in SZA’s career has yet to change. “I manage SZA,” the description reads, followed by, “TDE is the Family.”

SZA is set to co-headline former TDE artist Kendrick Lamar’s forthcoming Grand National Tour, which begins in April 2025.
