Playboi Carti Pays Homage To Lil Wayne With ‘Music’ Deluxe Album

Playboi Carti has a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, but he doesn’t want to let the momentum stop anytime soon. The Atlanta rapper released the deluxe version of his latest LP Music, which pays homage to Lil Wayne through the title.

Music – Sorry 4 Da Wait was released on Tuesday (March 25) and is a nod to Weezy F Baby’s mixtape series, Sorry 4 The Wait. Carti added four new records with the deluxe, bringing the album to 34 total songs and just under 90 minutes. One of the tracks is “2024,” a single he released exclusively on YouTube toward the end of 2023 and was highly anticipated as talks of the album grew.

The two-time Grammy nominee’s affinity for Wayne was present on the album’s original version as well, with one record titled “Like Weezy.” He rapped “Uh, two-tone, yeah, APeezy, lookin’ like Weezy” on the hook and raved about sex and drug use throughout the almost two-minute track.

Playboi Carti is the moment right now, with Music selling 298,000 album-equivalent units in its first week and debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. He also has two songs within the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100; “Evil J0rdan” debuted at No. 2 and “Rather Lie” featuring The Weeknd debuted at No. 4.

The tracklist features multiple A-list acts, namely Kendrick Lamar on three songs, Travis Scott, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Ty Dolla $ign, Jhene Aiko, and Skepta. Carti gave fans a taste of the album at Rolling Loud California 2025 earlier this month and brought out The Weeknd, NAV, and Kai Cenat during his set.

Next month, he will hit the road with the Toronto superstar for After Hours Til Dawn 2025, which will hit 26 stadiums across North America. They have collaborated on multiple records in the last few years, specifically “Popular” and “Timeless.” Check out the “Timeless” music video below.
