Nicki Minaj Announces ‘Pink Friday 3’ Album Instead Of Promised ‘PF2’ Deluxe Project
Nicki Minaj is full of surprises as she announced that her Pink Friday album series will now become a trilogy.
A few weeks ago, Minaj informed fans that she’d be dropping the Gag City Reloaded deluxe edition of Pink Friday 2, and even teased fans with snippets of new songs. However, the music icon scrapped that idea and announced a forthcoming Pink Friday 3 album instead.
Minaj shared the news on Sunday (Sept. 15) with a PSA via X explaining that all of her new songs are “just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album.”
“Instead of doing a DELUXE to Pink Friday 2, I’ve decided to do a brand new album,” she wrote. “I’ll still incorporate new songs like #Mamita & [The ‘anxiety’ song] for the remainder of the tour tho…and I’ll announce the new date within the next couple weeks.”
“The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album,” she continued. “Last night, the songs I recorded were just way too iconic. I love you guys so much. You know that. I know you do. I’ll still give you something leading up to the announcement, so no worries.”
The “Everybody” rhymer also shared a revelation that she’s “learned a lot” since the release of PF2 and also vowed that the next album will “do PRECISELY wtf BEEN needed to be done.”
“It’s just very special to me for so many reasons you guys aren’t aware of,” she added. “I put every song on there in a specific order, etc. So to honor that, I’m going to give it the respect & integrity it deserves as a beautiful body of work & not add anything else to it. 1 or 2 songs is no big deal but 5-7 songs feels a little sloppy right now (In my humble opinion).”
The mother of one also reflected on this time in her life as: “successful, rewarding, satisfying, etc.” She added, “after much thought, I want to be for CERTAIN that I am being intentional about every single decision being made around both PF2 AND PF3.”
Minaj is currently on her Pink Friday 2 Gag City Reloaded tour with BIA, Skillibeng, and Tyga, which kicked off earlier this month (Sept. 4) in Philadelphia and concludes Oct. 11 in her hometown of Queens, NY.
