Mac Miller’s Posthumous ‘Baloonerism’ Album Tracklist Revealed
The estate of late rap star Mac Miller has unveiled the tracklist for his forthcoming posthumous album, Balloonerism, which will arrive on the fifth anniversary of his previous posthumous effort, Circles.
On Tuesday (Jan. 7), a graphic featuring the album’s back cover art and tracklist was posted on Mac Miller’s Instagram account, which has remained active in the wake of his death in 2018.
According to the post, Balloonerism will consist of 14 tracks, with the sole feature coming courtesy of SZA, who is set to appear on the album’s second track, “DJ’s Chord Organ.”
Mac Miller’s alter-ego, Delusional Thomas, will be featured on the song, “Transformations.” Balloonerism‘s lead single, “5 Dollar Pony Rides,” will be released on Thursday (Jan. 9) at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET.
The Pittsburgh native’s estate previously shared a statement explaining the backstory behind Balloonerism and their decision to liberate it to his fans at this juncture.
“Many of Malcolm’s fans are aware of Balloonerism, a full length album that Malcolm created around the time of the release of Faces in 2014,” the estate wrote at the time.
“It is a project that was of great importance to Malcolm — to the extent that he commissioned artwork for it and discussions concerning when it should be released were had regularly, though ultimately [2015’s] GO:OD AM and subsequent albums ended up taking precedence.”
“We believe the project showcases both the breadth of his musical talents and fearlessness as an artist. Given that unofficial versions of the album have been circulating online for years and that releasing Balloonerism was something that Malcolm frequently expressed being important to him, we felt it most appropriate to present an official version of the project to the world.”
Balloonerism‘s release comes two days prior to what would’ve been Mac Miller’s 33rd birthday.
