Latto Channels New New From ‘ATL’ In Trailer For New Album ‘Sugar Honey Iced Tea’

Latto is a true class act as she’s channeled Lauren London’s “New New” role from the 2006 T.I.-starring film ATL.

In promotion of her forthcoming third studio album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, Latto went back to her hometown and highlighted the cult classic film known for its quotables.

In the trailer, the 25-year-old reenacts the scene between New New and Rashad where they’re sitting in the car listening to Aaliyah’s “At Your Best” and New New begins to sing along. The scene is perfectly executed, despite Latto having a different outfit on, a grill in her mouth and one of her album singles playing on the radio.

“Ooo, this is my song. Don’t play with me right now. This. Is. My. Jam. What? Oh,” she excitedly recites the iconic line.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Latto visits infamous Atlanta hotspots including Waffle House, Cascades Roller Skating rink, Legion Way street, the gas station, Magic City renamed to “Latto City,” and Peaches of Atlanta juice bar.

In the visual, 2 Chainz and T.I. also make cameo appearances, as Dungeon Family member Big Rube could be heard narrating throughout.

The announcement for Sugar Honey Iced Tea follows Latto’s 2023 hit “Put It On Da Floor,” and newer singles “Sunday Service” and “Big Mama.” The title of the LP — which has been used as a “cleaner” way to say sh*t — follows a few subliminals exchanged between her and Ice Spice, who dropped the song “Think U The Sh*t (Fart)” aimed at the southern spitter.

Last month, Latto took a jab at Ice when she uploaded a post of her team gifting her a poop emoji celebratory cake.

The dessert came with the embellished statement: “Holy sh*t, you’re Headlining.” Additionally, Latto further drove the jab with the post’s caption reading: “Think I’m the s*t, bi**h?????,” which is a direct reference to Spice’s song.

Latto has yet to release the cover art or tracklist for Sugar Honey Iced Tea, which drops on August 9.

In the meantime, take a look at the album’s trailer above and revisit her latest drop, “Big Mama” below.
