Kendrick Lamar And SZA Drop Romantic “Luther” Music Video

Kendrick Lamar and SZA have release the anticipated music video for their fan-favorite “Luther” collaboration.
The visual, directed by Karena Evans, finds both musicians softly in love. In their separate realities that exist in the same setting, the former Top Dawg Entertainment labelmates are swept up in the presence of their partners. The video ends with Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn’s cover of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “If This World Were Mine,” which is sampled on the chart-topping duet.
“He’s such a genius, and part of his genius is him being so elusive, and so mysterious, and I love it,” explained the SOS singer of collaborating with the Compton rapper as a guest on the Sherri Show. “I don’t know what’s going on as much as you don’t know what’s going on. When ‘Luther’ came on, I said, ‘OK, that’s the vocals we’re using, period,’ and same with ‘Gloria.’ I said, ‘OK,’ and I love that.”

The music video precedes Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s Grand National Tour, set to kick off later this month in Minneapolis with Mustard by their side.
“Luther” comes from Kendrick Lamar’s latest album GNX, which also features collaborations with AZ Chike, Roddy Ricch, Dody6, Lefty Gunplay, Siete7X, and more.
This week, the song tops the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart for a seventh total and consecutive week. Additionally, “Luther” became Lamar’s sixth No. 1 and SZA’s third, which extended both artists’ longest career Hot 100 reigns, per Billboard.
