Gordo And Drake Share Inspirational “Healing” Music Video

Gordo and Drake have dropped the music video for their “Healing” collaboration, yet neither musician is present in the clip (Gordo appears via FaceTime call).

Directed by Theo Skudra, the visual gives viewers insight into The Don Madfunz, whom the producer was made aware of while browsing social media.

“About 2 months ago while I was scrolling through TikTok, I stumbled upon THE DON Madfunz, a guy from South Africa with amazing energy. His taste in music grabbed my attention, but it was his dancing, smile and story that really hooked me,” writes Gordo in the video description.

“The Don would walk 9 miles to work every single day despite the weather or his personal safety… he risked it all for his family… and dreamed one day of his very slow walk being over and finally being able to own a car for himself so he can provide for his family. When I was thinking about the ‘HEALING’ music video, I couldn’t get Don out of my head… I knew I had to get him involved… so I hit up my friend, and director, Theo Skudra, and we decided to make a video following a day in Don’s life.”

The video, shot in Dududu, a rural area about an hour outside of Durban, sees Gordo surprising The Don with a car.

“Healing” comes from Gordo’s latest album, Diamante, issued earlier this month. Across 16 tracks the project features not only Drake but also Maluma, Young Dolph, T-Pain, Leon Bridges, Feid, Larry June, and more.

“If you like Latin music and you like dance music, this album is for you. If you like rap, listen and know about pop culture, know about American urban culture and you’re open [to] House music, then this album [is] for you,” he detailed to VIBE. “If you’re a woman, automatically you’re going to like [it] because it’s really sweet for the ears. So those are the three people that this album meant [for]. If you’re closed-minded, you’re not going to like it, but if you are open-minded, you’re going to like it.”
