GloRilla And Sexyy Red Link With Boosie Badazz For “WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME”
GloRilla and Sexyy Red team up for “WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME” and call on a familiar favorite for the glammed-up music video, directed by Benny Boom.
Taking their turned-up energy to a dual hair salon/barber shop, Baton Rouge rapper Boosie Badazz makes an appearance, sitting down for his signature fade. His cameo is not only comical, but makes sense, as the declarative anthem samples Trill Fam’s 2007 “Wipe Me Down” remix featuring Foxx, Webbie, and Boosie.
“B**ch, I’m from Memphis, what you know about me? Big G-L-O in that GLE,” kicks off GloRilla.
“S-E-X-Y-Y-R-E-D, You play with me, I put a pole in your teeth,” fires back the St. Louis native, mimicking Boosie Bada**’s nostalgic name-spelling introduction.
“WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME” comes from the Grammy-nominated rapper’s debut album Glorious. Issued last week (Oct. 11) the project features Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Sexyy Red, Kirk Franklin, Bossman Dlo, Fridayy, T-Pain, Muni Long, Kierra Sheard, Maverick City Music, and Chandler Moore.
“Last year, I was supposed to drop my debut album, but I was still just getting used to stuff and working a lot. When the top of the year came, I had the project basically done. I was like, ‘OK, I gotta give them the mixtape before I give them the album,’ because I went the whole year without dropping anything,” she detailed to Billboard of crafting the work.
“That’s why I said I was gonna give them the mixtape first, get em’ back used to me first, give ’em a feel of me, and then that’s gonna prep me for the album. The mixtape did good and did what it was supposed to do, which prepped me for my album.”
