Freddie Gibbs Disses DJ Akademiks And Calls Gunna A “Rat” On New Album
Freddie Gibbs has never been the one to shy away from sending shots at his opponents, and today (July 25), he provided Hip-Hop fans with another round. The Gary, Indiana, rapper dropped off his brand new project, Alfredo 2 with The Alchemist, and took aim at Gunna and DJ Akademiks on “Lavish Habits.”
On the track, he leaves no room for assumptions as he name-drops his longtime foe and makes fun of his weight. “First-class Virgin Atlantic, stewardess’ t*tties plastic/ I’m still gon’ squeeze Akademiks t*tties, that fat b*stard,” he spits on the mellow instrumental.
He then directed his attention towards Gunna, referencing the Atlanta hitmaker’s run-in with the government in 2023 due to the highly publicized YSL RICO trial. “Gunna dissed me and took a plea, he a rat b*stard,” Gibbs raps. Listen below.
This is certainly not the first time Gibbs and Ak butted heads, as their beef kicked off five years ago when the latter called the former “irrelevant” in June 2020. The “Scottie Beam” spitter threatened the host and their rift continued to spiral for years to come.
He has a history with Gunna as well. The “fukumean” artist rapped on his 2022 track “poochie gown”: I can’t f**k with Freddie Gibbs (No)/ N**gas tellin’ fibs (Fibs).” That same year, he also tweeted: “When my album drop Freddie Gibbs will the biggest moment of his career.”
Alfredo 2 is a follow-up to its first iteration that made landfall in 2020. The new LP boasts guest appearances from Larry June, J.I.D., and Anderson .Paak, and was led by single “1995.” He gifted fans with a short film, Alfredo: The Movie directed by Nick Walker, to go along with the project. Watch it above.
