Drake’s “Summer Vibes” Will Begin With Two Features On Camila Cabello’s Upcoming Album

Drake‘s promised that “summer vibes” will come via a new collaborator. The 37-year-old rapper will appear alongside Camila Cabello twice on her forthcoming album C, XOXO.

The Latin pop star discussed how the collaborations came together in a recent interview with Billboard. “He’s the f**king GOAT, so it felt like shooting for the stars,” she said, revealing that she contacted him via Instagram DMs. “I showed him the album when I felt comfortable enough and he really liked it. [The feature] came out of a non-transactional place. He had this idea of a song called ‘Hot Uptown,’ and it just felt like I was in the city. I was in Miami.”

The 6 God will also have a song completely to himself titled “Uuugly.” The interlude, according to Cabello, was birthed out of pure selfishness. “Why does he have his own song? Because selfishly, I just want to hear Drake on my own album,” she told Billboard. “I love that for me — it’s like that rebellious mood. Who says I can’t do that? It’s Drake talking his sh*t.”

Drake and Camila Cabello went viral last year when they were pictured riding jet skis in Turks & Caicos, and she revealed to Billboard that they were also working on music. C, XOXO will be available on June 28.

Drizzy is no stranger to working with Latin artists. In 2014, he joined Romeo Santos on “Odio.” Four years later, he linked up with Bad Bunny for the hit “MIA” and followed that up the following year with an appearance on MC Kevin o Chris’ “Ela É do Tipo.”

Most recently, Bad Bunny joined the Toronto superstar and PARTYNEXTDOOR on the remix to “Loyal” in 2020. Last year, Benito was featured on “Gently” from Drake’s October 2023 album For All The Dogs.

These Drake and Camila Cabello records could just be the start of his promised “summer vibes.” This past weekend, he was seen in a selfie with his producer, Gordo, and a caption that read “You guys ready for summer 2024…” The producer formerly known as DJ Carnage is known for producing five cuts on Drake’s 2022 dance album Honestly, Nevermind, namely “Currents,” “Calling My Name,” “Sticky,” “Massive,” and “Tie That Binds.”

Gordo also produced “Gently” with Bad Bunny and “Rich Baby Daddy” featuring SZA and Sexyy Red. So if there’s anyone to be confident about when it comes to producing the Degrassi star’s forthcoming “summer vibes,” it would be him.

Of course, this warm weathered music focus comes after the father-of-one bowed out of his tense feud with Kendrick Lamar. The “Poetic Justice” duo unloaded on one another, with six songs released within 5 days: “Euphoria,” “6:16 In LA,” “Family Matters,” “Meet The Grahams,” “Not Like Us,” and “The Heart Part 6.” Over a week after “The Heart,” he posted a photo of a soldier standing across from cavalry to symbolize the “20 v 1” battle he was part of. “Good times,” he wrote in the caption. “Summer vibes up next.”
