Drake And Kendrick Lamar Drop Scathing Disses “Family Matters” And “Meet The Grahams” Back-To-Back
The lyrical war between Drake and Kendrick Lamar won’t be slowing down anytime soon, as Drizzy released his third diss record, “Family Matters” just 45 minutes before Kendrick Lamar returned fire with his third diss, “Meet The Grahams,” early Saturday morning (May 4).
“Family Matters” follows Drake’s A.I. diss record “Taylor Made Freestyle” while K. Dot’s “Meet The Grahams” comes behind his second shot at Drake, “6:16 In LA.”
Drake issued “Family Matters” via YouTube around 11pm EST Friday night, attacking not only Kendrick, but The Weeknd, Metro Boomin, A$AP Rocky, and others who’ve sent shots his way over the past few weeks. He opens the verse, however by addressing Kendrick’s complaints of hearing him use the word “ni**a,” using the word with emphasis to set off the song’s aggressive tone.
“Ni**a I said it, I know that you mad, I’ve emptied the clip over friendlier jabs, You mentioned my seed, now deal with his dad, I gotta go bad, I gotta go bad,” he begins, referencing Kendrick questioning his presence as a father on “Euphoria.” He goes on to recognize Compton rappers YG and The Game for actually “banging a set,” unlike non-gang member Kendrick, before expressing that, unlike J. Cole, he’ll lose no sleep over going head-to-head with his friend-turned-foe.
He also issued claims that Kendrick is abusive to partner Whitney, and that she has possibly had a child with K. Dot’s business partner, Dave Free.
“We coulda left the kids outta this, don’t blame me
You a dog and you know it, you just play sweet
Your baby mama captions always screamin, “save me”
You did her dirty all her life, you tryna make peace
I heard that one of them little kids might be Dave Free
Don’t make it Dave Free’s
Cause if your GM is your BM secret BD
Then this is all making plenty f**kin’ sense to me”
He later addresses The Weeknd calling out his OVO “shooter” being “on TikTok” on Future and Metro Boomin track, “All To Myself.”
“If Drake shooters doing TikToks, ni**a
Realest shooter in your gang thats P’s brother, ya’ll ain’t getting sh*t shot
Ni**a, can’t listen to the stick talk in Falsetto, save it for a Hip-Hop ni**a
Ya’ll don’t ever be at home, dawg you a souvenir out the gift shop ni**a
Still mad about that one ho we ain’t even fuck I just lip lock with her
I get active when it’s war time I ain’t even really let my dick drop ni**a”
After a few Rick Ross, Ozempic jabs, Drake addresses A$AP Rocky, confirming that the Harlem native slept with his son’s mother, Sophie Brussaux, before Drake conceived a child with her. He went on to point out, however, that he was intimate with Rocky’s current partner, Rihanna, around the same time.
“Rakim talkin’ sh*t again, Gassed cause you hit my bm first, Ni**a do the math, who I was hitting then?”
Drake turns his attention back to Kendrick before wrapping up the record, making fun of Lamar’s status as a Grammy darling and doubling-down on his abuse claims.
“They hired a crisis management team, to clean up the fact that you beat on your queen, The picture you painted, it ain’t what it seems, Ya dead!” Check out “Family Matters” below.
Less than 45 minutes later, Kendrick released his response in “Meet The Grahams,” where he raps as if writing a letter to Drake’s son, Adonis, and his parents, Dennis and Sandi Graham.
“Dear Adonis, I’m sorry that that man is your father, let me be honest, It takes a man to be a man, your dad is not responsive, I look at him and wish your grandpa woulda wore a condom,” he starts the record. He then begins giving Drake’s son fatherly advice, including not to entertain escorts, something Joe Budden recently said he and Drake have in common.
He then makes mention of Drake’s rumored ab surgery before imploring Adonis to “Be proud of who you are, your strength come from within, Lotta superstars that’s real, but your daddy ain’t one of them, And you nothin’ like him, you’ll carry yourself as king, Can’t understand me right now, just play this when you 18.”
As for Sandi and Dennis, Kendrick went for the jugular with accusations just as heinous as Drake’s claims of him being abusive, comparing the Toronto star to Harvey Weinstein.
“Mhm, your son’s a sick man with sick thoughts
I think ni**as like him should die
Him and Weinstein should get f**ked up in a cell for the rest they life
He hates black woman, hypersexualizes them, with kinks of a nympho fetish
Grew facial hair ’cause he understand bein’ a beard just fit him better.
“He got sex offenders on OVO that he keep on a monthly allowance
A child should never be compromised and he keepin’ his child around them
And we gotta raise our daughters knowin’ there’s predators like him lurkin’
F**k a rap battle, he should die so all of these women can live with a purpose.”
Kendrick also addresses a rumored secret daughter of Drake’s, who according to the Compton MC, is already 11 years old. Check out “Meet The Grahams” below.
