Doechii Continues “Denial Is A River” Show Rollout With Drama Series Flip
Doechii has received high praise in 2024 for delivering layered, conceptual art in a variety of ways. She continued that trend with the latest tease for the forthcoming “Denial Is A River” visual.
The latest trailer was titled “La Rosa De Doechii,” a flip of the 2008 drama series La Rosa De Guadalupe. The show’s premise was to offer reenactments of real-life events for people who prayed to the Virgin Guadalupe. It covered traumatic topics such as teen girls getting drunk by soaking their tampons in alcohol, a Freaky Friday-esque moment where a mother makes out with a teenager, a girl trading her virginity for Justin Bieber tickets only to realize they were fake, and a girl dying when she tries to obtain her cell phone that her mother threw out of the window.
In “La Rosa De Doechii,” she plays a woman arguing with her partner (Zack Fox) about their sexual preferences while in the kitchen. More specifically, she took issue with his unwillingness to perform analingus on her. In the end, the 26-year-old rapper’s character tells Fox’s character that if he won’t do it, she will find someone else who is willing and thus enters Baby Tate. Watch the clip below.
Doechii began rolling out the “Denial Is A River” show this month, which is a complete flip of the 1989 sitcom Family Matters. She first revealed the star-studded cast which included ScHoolboy Q, Zack Fox, Baby Tate, H Wood, DJ Miss Milan, Rickey Thompson, Teezo Touchdown, SiR, and Earl Sweatshirt, who is going by Brad Pitt.
The Tampa, Fla., rapper shared a trailer on Saturday (Dec. 28) where the guys were dancing in the living room of their home as she walked in. She attempted to get their attention to no avail and then proceeded to slap all of them and anyone else who walked in the room in the face, including “Brad Pitt.”
The official “Denial Is A River” visual comes out on Thursday (Jan. 2, 2025) and will jumpstart what could be a huge 2025 for the TDE signee following her breakthrough 2024. Her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal was called the best project of the year by many and earned her multiple Grammy nominations, namely Rap Album Of The Year and Best New Artist. That makes January and February 2025 consecutive months where fans will have something to anticipate from the versatile artist.
