Doechii Answers Fans’ Requests With New Version Of 2019 Bedroom Song “Anxiety”

Following her Best Rap Album Grammy win for Alligator Bites Never Heal, Doechii has taken OG fans back to her humble beginnings with a new version of the highly requested song “Anxiety.”

Originally recorded in her bedroom in 2019 for her “Coven Music Sessions,” the song had never been officially available on streaming platforms — until now. Answering fans’ persistent requests, Doechii re-recorded her vocals and released the updated song via Top Dawg Entertainment/Capitol Records today (March 5).

The song, which was famously sampled on Sleepy Hallow’s track of the same name, hears Doechii sing: “Anxiety, keep on trying me/ I feel it quietly, tryna silence me (yeah)/ My anxiety, can’t shake it off of me/ Somebody’s watching me, and my anxiety.”

In one of many flows on the track, Doechii then trades in ballads for bars with the bouncy lyrics: “Solo, no mojo/ I bounce back, no pogo/ Unhappy, no homo/ New brands, no logos/ Money on my juggla, natural hustler/ Think I need a smuggler up in Russia.” Listen below.

The anticipation for the track rose last week when Doechii teased its release with a TikTok. In the clip, she imitates the infamous Fresh Prince dance scene between Will Smith and Ashley Banks.

“I have never seen an artist immediately run to the studio to release a song that couldn’t be streamed everywhere. You have to love doechii,” one user wrote as another said, “I love my generation of artist. Y’all listen, and truly commit to your art as well as your fans. You’re a lyrical and musical genius Doechii- truly blessed by the Muses! Thank you!”

Within 24 hours, the snippet racked up over 80,000 TikTok mentions, and by the end of the weekend, it had skyrocketed to 650,000. Upon the song’s official release, the original video for the track jumped from 200,000 to an astonishing 3,000,000 views as of publication. Watch below.

The 26-year-old has had an amazing 2024, leading her to garner critical recognition in 2025 including her aforementioned Grammy and several nominations at the NAACP Image Awards.

The “Swamp Princess” also made history this year at the Grammys, becoming the third Black woman to win the nod for Best Rap Album, behind Cardi B and Lauryn Hill (Fugees) for her 2024 mixtape.

Cardi presented the award to the TDE multi-hyphenate as she tearfully went to the stage with her mother. In acknowledging the moment’s importance, Doechii spoke about her come-up and offered wisdom to other aspiring Black women musicians and creatives.

“I have to thank God, I need to thank my beautiful mother for coaching me. I want to thank my label, my engineer Jada for everything she did, my fans the Swamp,” the rapper began. “There’s so many people out there who probably don’t know who I am. I call myself the ‘Swamp Princess’ because I’m from Tampa… record labels, go to Tampa, there’s talent there. Thank you so much to my label TDE. Thank you to Hip-Hop.”

“The last thing I want to say… I know that there is some Black girl out there… and I want to tell you that you can do it,” she continued. “Anything is possible. Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes onto you. You are exactly who you need to be to be right where you are and I am a testimony. Praise God.”
