Big Sean Delays Album Days Before Its Release: “Might Need An Extra Week Or Two”

Big Sean’s anticipated sixth studio album Better Me Than You will did not drop on Aug. 9, as originally scheduled. The Detroit rapper informed fans of the change via Instagram, while also promoting the album’s single, “On Up.”

“I think I’m a throw a bbq 4 real that we can all end summer wit, cause this song give me that feeling! BETTER ME THAN YOU ALBUM SOON!,” he captioned a visualizer of the single.

One fan questioned Sean’s wording with, “Why u saying album soon like it’s not suppose to drop on the 9th !!!???!??” The 36-year-old responded, “i gotta push it just a lil bit. Music done but jus organizing listening events, shows etc. might need a extra week or 2 to plan.”

Last month, fans speculated that the album was leaked by Kanye West (a.k.a Ye), which Sean debunked.

“I know he ain’t do that sh*t. I love Ye. Without him, there would be no me,” he admitted during an Instagram Live in July.

“I been there since Graduation. I got to study, contribute, give energy to every project. 808sBeautiful Twisted… I know he wouldn’t do that, that’s trash,” he added. “So whoever did do that, just know it did f**k me up.”

A new date for Better Me Than You has yet to be announced.

Big Sean recently dropped the video to “On Up” which is dedicated to his and Jhene Aiko’s son Noah.

The visual was directed by Lawrence Lamont, Noah’s God Father, and shot in the POV of the baby. The visual shows Sean and Jhené getting the baby from his crib and showing what a full day is like. Sean can be seen taking Noah for a walk, feeding him, and watching him take his first steps.
