Ariana Grande Enlists Brandy And Monica For “The Boy Is Mine” Remix

The collaboration of Ariana Grande‘s dreams (and ours, too) is coming to fruition, as the singer enlists the expertise of Brandy and Monica for the official “the boy is mine” remix.

Slated for release on June 21, news of the remix came on Monday (June 17).

“I ……… cannot believe this is real (i don’t know if i will, even long after it’s out),” Grande wrote in the formal announcement. “My deepest and sincerest thank you to Brandy and Monica, not only for joining me for this moment, but for your generosity, your kindness, and for the countless ways in which you have inspired me. it is near impossible to say how much this means to me.”

The “yes, and” singer continued, “This is in celebration of you both and the impact that you have had on every vocalist, vocal producer, musician, artist that is creating today. I loooooove you both so so much. thank you !!!!!!!”

This isn’t the first time the Wicked star has given her flowers to Brandy, whom she considered to be one of her “most inspirational female singers.” In a Billboard article from October 2013, she named the Vocal Bible among the likes of India.Arie, Whitney Houston, Imogen Heap, and Judy Garland.

When revering in Brandy’s talents, Grande shared, “I’m obsessed with the sweetness of her voice and I love her songs. Her riffs are also incredibly on point. Nothing excites me more than an extraordinarily precise run. I also met her once and she was just as sweet as can be. As you can imagine, I’ve watched the Cinderella with Whitney and Brandy a million times!”

Brandy took to Twitter later that day to respond to Grande, calling her a “mind blowing singer.”

The R&B legends just reunited for a cameo in the “the boy is mine” music video, and with the impending remix, this full circle moment is now complete.
