Six years after Anderson .Paak first teamed up with Cordae for the fan-favorite track “RNP,” the two artists have officially announced a collaborative album. Titled Heavy Is the Head, the project follows their previous successful pairings, including “Two Tens” and “Summer Drop,” and is slated for release on Oct. 23.
.Paak teased the upcoming album on Instagram, expressing his excitement by stating, “We can’t wait for y’all to hear this one.” The announcement was accompanied by a playful teaser video that finds the duo sporting argyle sweaters and posing for a studio portrait reminiscent of the iconic poster for the 2008 comedy Step Brothers. In the clip, the rappers engage in a humorous, mock-bickering session, mirroring the dynamic of the film’s protagonists, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.
While the video serves as a lighthearted introduction to the project, it also provides a brief, tantalizing glimpse of the music to come. The background audio features a snippet of a new track, though the duo has yet to release an official tracklist or lead single. Fans were treated to a few cryptic lyrics: “Sippin’ on this brown liquor got me nostalgic/Plastic on couches, bitches in the kitchen of my…”
To support the release, the pair has launched a dedicated webstore where fans can pre-order Heavy Is the Head in various formats, including cassette, CD, and vinyl.
