Beyoncé Surprise-Releases New Song 'Morning Dew (Donk)'

Beyoncé delivered some fireworks on the Fourth of July as the singer surprise-released a new track titled “Morning Dew (Donk),” her first new song in two years. This Beyoncé release marks a significant moment for fans as she begins a 60-day countdown to the 20th anniversary of her second studio album, B’Day.

According to a press release, the song is “a direct nod to her loyal BeyHive to commemorate the upcoming epic celebration of B’Day.” The original album was released on September 4, 2006, which also happens to be the singer’s birthday. The new track, “Morning Dew (Donk),” was reportedly initially slated for that 2006 LP and features a powerhouse creative team, including Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon, with production handled by Beyoncé and Williams.

The song was paired with a lyric video that reuses two-decade-old footage shot by collaborator Cliff Watts, who also photographed the singer’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover. The track is set to appear on an upcoming 20th-anniversary reissue of B’Day, which is scheduled to arrive on September 4, 2026. While no further details regarding the reissue have been revealed, the release serves as a bridge between her past and present.

“Morning Dew (Donk)” marks the first new music from the artist since she released her genre-bending Cowboy Carter in March 2024. As fans continue to speculate about the third installment in her reported trilogy—which began with 2022’s Renaissance—this surprise drop offers a nostalgic look back at the era that helped cement her status as a global icon.
