Wale is in the midst of rolling out his eighth studio album titled everything is a lot. and he had some words for the media on the day the LP was announced. The 41-year-old rapper called out XXL and other platforms for allegedly promoting the wrong tracklist.

XXL shared a tweet on Monday (Oct. 13) with the album’s title, Nov. 14 release date, and the titles of all 16 songs on the project, all of which were sent out by his team to VIBE and various other publications. Folarin quoted the tweet and wrote, “All press [is] good press. But this tracklist is not the tracklist. Why would I put out the tracklist the day I announce the album lmao.” He ended the tweet with a play on the LP’s title, writing “Everything is [Artificial] #EIA.”

XXL replied and wrote, “We’re looking forward to the album. *fire emoji* Your publicist sent us this tracklist directly to share with the album announcement and the quote we included today. That’s where we got it from.” Read below.

A fan chimed in and added, “I see as positive. We love you bro but start looking things more optimistically. They just putting notice out that you bout to drop.” The Washington, D.C. rapper replied, “It’s 100 pct positive. Was just bein clear..it’s still time for me to make songs wit these titles. We’ll see.” Several fans called him out for complaining or not handling the situation privately, and the “Lotus Flower Bomb” artist replied with clever jokes and sarcasm.

Ultimately, fans will get to see what the final tracklist is come Nov. 14. So far, Wale has shared the singles “Blanco” and “Where To Start,” the latter of which samples SWV’s “I’m So Into You.” He has also dropped freestyles over Central Cee’s “CRG,” Justin Bieber’s “Yukon,” and “James” produced by Don Cannon.
