Here Are The First Week Sales Projections For Cardi B’s ‘Am I The Drama?’ Album

There is a myriad of emotions in the music space now that Cardi B has finally released her sophomore album, Am I The Drama? In this era, everyone knows that a topic almost as important as the music, for better or for worse, is the first week sales projections for new LPs.

Hits Daily Double recently reported that the Bronx star’s latest effort is expected to move 125,000 to 150,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. This would be a steep drop-off from her 2018 debut Invasion Of Privacy, which moved 255,000 units in its first week. It is worth noting that sales were assessed differently back then, and she had much bigger singles leading into Invasion than she did Drama?

There was much commotion about the soon-to-be mother of four adding her 2020 hit “WAP” and 2021 hit “Up” to her latest LP’s tracklist in an effort to boost the numbers. However, those songs do not count for first-week sales under the new rules. They did, however, ensure that Drama? was certified RIAA Platinum on its release day.

Cardi is among the top first-week sellers of 2025. If her final sales land above 140,000, she will have outpaced Lil Baby’s WHAM. Still, the Grammy winner will be significantly behind The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow, which moved 493,000 units, and Playboi Carti’s MUSIC, which moved 298,000.

Cardi’s new album is a 23-song, 71-minute effort. It featured Janet Jackson, Lizzo, Summer Walker twice, Selena Gomez, Tyla, Kehlani, and more. She released a video for “Safe” featuring Kehlani this past Friday (Sept. 19), adding the record to her string of singles, which began with the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 record “Outside” and “Imaginary Playerz,” a homage to Jay-Z’s classic rap song.
