Lil Wayne’s ‘Da Drought’ Mixtape Series Now Available To Stream
Mixtape Weezy fans rejoice.
The rapper’s catalogue on Apple Music was updated with fan-favorite throwbacks, including Da Drought mixtape series, making them available to stream for the first time. Additionally, the New Orleans native’s Dedication mixtapes also arrived on the platform in surprise fashion.
Da Drought series was initiated in 2003 and fulfilled with three installments, the second released in 2004 and the third in 2007. With the rapper in his prime, he was joined by Nicki Minaj, Curren$y, and Juelz Santana in the closing project.
The Dedication mixtapes are a collaboration between Weezy F. Baby and DJ Drama under the Gangsta Grillz umbrella. The first was released in 2005, with the latest drop, Dedication 6, in 2017. Nicki Minaj, Gudda Gudda, Chance The Rapper, Jae Millz, Mack Maine, J. Cole, B.G., Curren$y, and more all make appearances throughout the collection.
As of now, the aforementioned mixtapes are only available on Apple Music; however, other Lil Wayne classics, such as No Ceilings and Sorry 4 the Wait, appear on multiple streaming platforms.
Earlier this year, the veteran rapper released his anticipated Carter VI album. The 19-track project boasts features from 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Kodak Black, Wyclef Jean, Jelly Roll, Mannie Fresh, BigXthaPlug, and more. Ahead of the release, the 42-year-old also teased a new era of his Young Money label with a handful of new signees.
“You got to think like how people study Bach and Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis and Shakespeare,” explained Wyclef to Rolling Stone of Lil Wayne’s legacy. “He’s going to be regarded as one of the greatest renaissance wordsmith composers of our generation.”
