Halle’s ‘Because I Love You’ Debuts on Multiple Billboard Charts

Halle Bailey, mononymously as Halle, once again has a new single that is off to a bright start on the Billboard charts.

“Because I Love You,” which Halle co-wrote with RAYE, debuts at No. 3 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart during the week of Sept. 14.

It’s Halle’s third solo entry on this chart, which totals “the week’s most top-downloaded R&B songs, as compiled by Luminate.”

It is also her third consecutive top-five hit on this sales chart, following “In Your Hands” and “Angel,” which debuted at No. 3 and No. 2, respectively.

On R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Sales, “Because I Love You” is one of the five new entries this week, launching at No. 11. It also debuts at No. 16 on the Hot R&B Songs chart, where “Million Dollar Baby” by Tommy Richman holds the top spot for the 19th week.

Halle’s “Because I Love You” was released on Aug. 30 under Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia Records. The track was produced by the Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter’s frequent collaborator, Dem Jointz.

Discussing the new single, Halle explained, “‘Because I Love You’ is a song for anyone who has been deeply in love. It’s an anthem that tells the story of all of the beautiful passion and euphoria you can feel with that person.”

A beautifully haunting video for “Because I Love You” was released simultaneously with its official audio on streaming platforms. Allie Avital directed the video, while Lottie Abrahams produced it.

“The video dives deeper into how vulnerable it makes you feel,” Halle said. “I hope people enjoy listening and thinking of the person they love the most.”

As mentioned earlier, “Because I Love You” is Halle’s second song release of 2024. It follows “In Your Hands,” which was released in March.

Before premiering these two songs, she debuted her first solo track, “Angel,” in 2023, which was subsequently nominated for a Grammy.

Music aside, Halle will star in The Line, a fraternity drama directed by Ethan Berger. The movie will open in select theaters on Oct. 18 and then expand nationwide on Oct. 23.
