Jaz Karis Covers Robin Thicke’s Classic “Lost Without You” For VIBE ‘V Sessions’

What’s better than listening to your favorite songs on your preferred streaming platform? Hearing them performed in a live setting. London songstress Jaz Karis blessed the VIBE office with two selections for our visual series V Sessions.

Her first performance was an acoustic cover of Robin Thicke’s 2006 hit “Lost Without You” accompanied by a guitarist and bassist. Her explanation for why she chose this particular record was simple: “Purely because I love singing it. I’m a lover girl at heart, it’s a beautiful song.”

Karis couldn’t leave the viewers with just one performance, though. Next, she offered a solo acoustic version of her June single “Tequila” featuring Reekado Banks. “‘Tequila’ is about realizing you’re falling in love,” she said. “That rush, that feeling just feeling like you’re drunk off tequila. It’s a love song.” Check out her celestial performance of “Tequila” below.

It’s been an active year of releases for Jaz Karis. Ahead of “Tequila,” she shared “Nice Girls” featuring fellow UK talent Mahalia in April and “Met You At A Bar” with Tone Stith in February. It has been almost two years since her last EP, Dear Jaz. She handled the majority of the seven-song effort on her own besides the opening title track featuring Kojey Radical.

If listeners are seeking more new music, Karis just announced that her forthcoming single “Sunset Blvd” will be out on Thursday (July 25). Check out a preview of the track, shot in a subway station in NYC, above.
