Coco Jones’ ‘Here We Go (Uh Oh)’ Lands Top 10 Debut on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales Chart
Coco Jones’ new single, “Here We Go (Uh Oh),” has debuted on multiple Billboard charts.
The Lenny Williams-sampled track opens at No. 8 on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart. It’s Jones’ second top 10 hit, following her Grammy-winning single, “ICU,” which topped the chart in July 2023.
Elsewhere on Billboard, “Here We Go” bows at No. 17 on the Hot R&B Songs chart, which ranks songs based on streaming activity, radio airplay audience impressions and digital sales.
Jones’ previous entries on the Hot R&B Songs chart include “ICU” (peaked at No. 6 in July 2023) and “Moment of Your Life” with Brent Faiyaz (peaked at No. 8 in Sept. 2023). The former song spent 20 weeks on the chart, while the latter spent 14 weeks.
“Here We Go,” which has garnered over one million streams on Spotify alone, was released May 3 via High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings. It is the lead single from Jones’ highly awaited debut album, set to release later this year.
In an interview with Rated R&B, Jones shared what inspired her to write “Here We Go,” which samples Lenny Williams’ “‘Cause I Love You.”
“I think the music inspired the song concept because I feel like with the sample, it feels like this orchestra and like a mystery,” Jones told Rated R&B. “[It’s] like this mission is happening like 007 or something. I was like, ‘What could be the mission here?’ And the mission, I feel like, is to be free from this person that constantly comes back in — to get over that hurdle.”
As for her debut album, Jones discussed how she tapped into more soundscapes than her debut EP, What I Didn’t Tell You.
“The EP made me want to explore different sounds [and] different genres, seeing how I could mix them,” Jones said to Rated R&B. “I felt like a scientist whose one experiment did really well, and it’s like, ‘Oh damn, okay.’ Now I’m getting all mad creative, just trying a bunch of different things because I’m like, ‘That was good. Let’s see what else I can do.’ [I’m] just motivated.”
