B. Simone Addresses Plagiarism Scandal, Discontinues Sales of Book: ‘To My Supporters, I Apologize’

LLC Twitter had time on their hands over the weekend when they dug up the receipts on B. Simone’s, Baby Girl: Manifest the Life You Want.

The book became the center of a plagiarism scandal when a small content creator revealed that the comedian ripped off her work word-for-word. “It’s been brought to my attention that @thebsimone is selling a book with MY content in it WORD FOR WORD. She is making a profit off of plagiarized content of smaller content creators and calls herself an entrepreneur,” Boston lifestyle influencer, Ell, wrote on Instagram. “Here’s a shot of MY content and then Her book… This is not entrepreneurship. It’s disgusting.”

The Wild ‘n Out star got dragged up-and-down Black Twitter for this revelation.

Meek Mill tried to come to her rescue, but Black Twitter packed him up too and reminded him that he initiated a years-long beef with Drake that recently ended over ghostwriting allegations.

The Philly rapper might not have been the ideal spokesperson, but points were made.

B. Simone let the tides calm down over the weekend and uploaded a video on IGTV saying that she’s taking full accountability and is righting her wrongs with the small creators whose work was stolen.

“I had a vision to create a book for young women to change their mindset and have them manifest because that is how I feel I became successful in life,” Simone continued. “Me and my team outsourced. We hired a team that we trusted. That we thought could bring my vision to life and they did a lot of things without my knowledge.”

She explained that the situation is now a legal issue and couldn’t talk too much about it.

This scandal doesn’t take away from the influencer’s talent as a comedian and rapper. But, this does open a larger conversation about the smoking mirrors of influencer culture.
