Los Angeles County Aiming to Extend Stay-at-Home Order for Three Months
Los Angeles County’s stay-at-home orders appear to be primed to well into the summertime. The Los Angeles Times reports the order appears “with all certainty” to remain active for the next three months.
The details were mentioned by county Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer when meeting with the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday. She stated that if the order remains in place it would be graduated through a five-step plan.
“We are being guided by science and data that will safely move us forward along the road to recovery in a measured way—one that allows us to ensure that effective distancing and infection control measures are in place,” Ferrer said.
Across California, there are over 70,000 confirmed cases, while closing in on 2900 deaths. Los Angeles County is the epicenter of the state with 1,300 deaths.
“Our hope is that by using the data, we’d be able to slowly lift restrictions over the next three months,” she said.
In the state, beaches are set to reopen this week but will not allow sunbathing. Only activities such as surfing, running, walking and swimming will be allowed. When not in the water, face masks as required.
