Kendrick Lamar and TDE Eyeballing New Publishing Deal Worth Over $20 Million
Approximately seven years ago, Kendrick Lamar signed with Warner/Chappell Music and has since become one of the publishing company’s most explosive famed acts. His deal with the publisher will soon expire, and now, new publishing deal offers are coming at him from all different directions at attractive monetary volumes.
According to Billboard, Top Dawg Entertainment, Lamar’s management company is reportedly contemplating on offers ranging between $20 million and 40 million. K. dot’s rights alone may demand just $20 million. One prospect publisher has offered $28 million, while another proposed $23 million, offering $11 million upon signing. While the value is dependent on the scheme of the deal, most of the offers are aiming to receive Lamar’s full catalog. The terms TDE stand on are reportedly not official as of yet.
Kendrick who is up for seven Grammy Awards this year, mostly due to his widely accepted fourth studio album DAMN, sold 1.13 million units along with 2.63 million track sales last year, according to Nielsen Music. As for Lamar’s album consumption units, he is looking at 4.135 units. Throughout his career, the “DNA” rapper has generated over 9.5 million album sales. Figuratively impressive.
