Tekashi 6ix9ine's Prison Release Could Come Later Today

Although today is April Fools Day, this is not a joke. Tekashi 6ix9ine could possibly be released at any moment today. The “Gummo” rapper was scheduled for an August 2020 release following compliance and initial plea for an early release. Although the initial plea was denied, the Coronavirus pandemic may have worked in his favor.

COVID-19 is spreading at a rapid pace throughout the United States. The likelihood of an inmate in prison contracting Coronavirus is extremely high. According to the New York Times, a growing number of officials and public defenders are pushing for the release of a number of vulnerable inmates to avoid more exposure. If not they are calling it a possible “public health catastrophe.”

During the crisis, Lazzoro took advantage of the pandemic at hand in order to get his client an early release. Tekashi 6ix9ine has a proven history of suffering from asthma. Possible exposure to the Coronavirus can worsen the Bushwick rapper’s health.

After denying his initial request to serve the rest of his sentence under 24-hour confinement in December, Judge Paul Englemayer has now granted a sympathetic ruling. “Had the Court known that sentencing Mr. Hernandez to serve the final four months of his term in a federal prison would have exposed him to a heightened health risk, the Court would have directed that these four months be served instead in home confinement,” said Englemayer to Fox News.

Now Judge Englemayer has ruled in 6ix9ine’s favor and gives the United State government until 5 pm to authorize the release. Let the countdown begin.
