Kanye West Hits Chicago’s Southside for George Floyd Protest

Kanye West is back in Chicago and took to the South Side streets with Chicago Public Schools students to demand school officials to cancel their contract with the Chicago Police Department.

The protest was organized by local activist Ja’Mal Green in opposition to the $33 million contracts, Martin from the CPS District Office to the CPD headquarters on 35th and Michigan, WLS-TV reports.

Earlier this week Minnesota Public Schools canceled their agreement with the Minneapolis Police Department. Students in Chicago are asking for the same to be done in The Windy City, and challenging for the funds to be spent on therapists for students with behavioral issues, art-based extracurricular activities, educational courses based in American history with Black teachers and more.

During the protest Kanye West did not speak but images and video of him marching popped up around social media.

Earlier in the day, West made headlines for his contributions to the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.
